Tires

"When you are in your vehicle, your tires are the only thing between you and the planet."

That is why you need to make the right choice in tires for your driving environment. Local Automotive understands that buying tires can be a big investment. That’s why we are committed to finding you the best tire in your budget.

We offer a wide variety of proven winter, and summer tires as well as all terrain SUV tires. Even those hard-to-get tire sizes for 16,17,18,and 19 inch rims, so common on today’s luxury SUV’s and sports car, are available at Local Automotive.

We offer discount packages for bulk buyers – so get your office staff or friends together and come down and let us put a quote together for you.

During every maintenance service, we will have our technicians check the condition and air pressure of your tires. They should be rotated every 10,000 or 12,000 kilometres, or every third oil change, to ensure uniform wear. All four tires should be the same brand and make, and you should never change the size of your tires without first consulting an expert.

How To Read a Tire

Your tire contains very useful information moulded into the sidewall. It shows the name of the tire, its size, whether it is tubeless or tube type, the maximum load and maximum inflation, the important safety warning and much other information.

P 215 /65 R 15 89H

  1. "P" stands for passenger (LT: Light Truck, T: Temporary, C: Commerical, ST: Special Trailer)
  2. "215" represents the width of the tire in millimeters;
  3. "65" is the ratio of height to width;
  4. "R" is the speed rating;
  5. "15" is the diameter of the wheel in inches.
  6. Some speed-rated tires carry a Service Description, instead of showing the speed symbol in the size designation. The Service Description, 89H in this example, consists of the load index (89) and speed symbol (H). The H in this case indicates the tire's maximum speed is 130 mph.

On winter tires you will see a snowflake/mountain emblem designating the tire as a true winter tire.
